In 1843 Cork Ireland a young Dominick Tansey aids an elderly disabled man on the street and becomes the unintended accomplice in the homicide of a policeman. This sets in motion events that span two novels, The Going Away and Boys of the Bog. The first book takes us from the Great Famine in Ireland to the immigrant-thriving streets of Philadelphia. In the conclusion of the two-book 1800’s saga, Boys of the Bog follows the marriage of Dominick and Mary Tansey as they are separated by Dom’s incarceration on Spike Island off the coast of Ireland for a murder he didn’t commit. There is some doubt whether their love will survive when Mary’s childhood infatuation appears on her doorstep.

Maybe it was the way his family pronounced his last name, “Booker,” that doomed David Bucher to a life of writing. And his first job after college was as a bookkeeper, which gave him many of the ideas in his first novel, Perfect Teeth. He has been an industrial painter, a government auditor, a researcher, and computer analyst and programmer.

David is married to the Canadian book designer and artist Mary Firth, has one daughter, Melissa, and three exceptional grandchildren.

Perfect Teeth and Confessions of a Chat Goddess will be published in the not-too-distant future.
